Location: Jackson County Public Library

Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity to serve your community in a dynamic and supportive environment? The Jackson County Public Library is hiring a Part-Time Library Services Assistant to join our incredible team!

Key Details:

  • Hours: 20-28 hours per week, including flexible hours and some weekends.
  • Salary Range: $11-$14 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Previous library experience preferred.
    • Comfortable using technology.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist patrons in locating and utilizing library materials, resources, and equipment.
  • Perform library circulation tasks such as checking materials in/out, processing holds, and managing fines/fees.
  • Update and maintain the library’s online catalog, databases, and website.
  • Manage the library’s social media platforms.
  • Support children’s and teen programs, as well as other library activities.
  • Handle local history and genealogy inquiries, organize archives, and curate local history materials.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in library spaces.
  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve patron concerns professionally.
  • Perform opening and closing routines, including cash drawer management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of library systems and the Dewey Decimal System is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and online.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Physically capable of performing tasks such as standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and pushing heavy book carts.
